WITSA Elects New Officers for the 2020-2022 Term

Fairfax, Virginia: At its Board of Directors meetings on December 1, 2020, the World Information Technology and services Alliance (WITSA) voted on a new slate of officers for the 2020-2020 term.

Joining WITSA’s Chairman, Mr. Yannis Sirros,  Mr. Sean Seah representing the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) was elected WITSA’s Deputy Chairman, who will serve in the absence of the Chairman, assuming all appropriate responsibilities. WITSA also elected eight Regional Vice Chairmen, who will be WITSA’s front-line representatives in their respective regions as well as conduits for new members joining WITSA.

Additionally, WITSA established two new committees that will be crucial to WITSA’s future: The Business Development Committee (BDC) and the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC).

Mr. Brian Shen of the Information Service Industry Association of Taiwan (CISA) will chair the Business Development Committee, which will be responsible for identifying new streams of revenue such as regional events, new memberships, grants and supporting existing WITSA programs, to include educational offerings, WITSA’s Business Excellence Certification program, WITSA’s Global Partnership programs, WITSA’s World Congress on IT, and other related activities with the express purpose of sustaining existing sources of WITSA’s revenue and creating new revenue sources in the near and long term in order to ensure WITSA’s financial sustainability.

Mr. Santiago Gutierrez of  the Mexican National Chamber of Electronics, Telecoms and IT Enterprises (CANIETI) will chair the new WITSA Strategic Planning Committee, which is responsible for increasing the global brand of WITSA as the Voice of the Global ICT Industry, contributing to WITSA’s long-term sustainability, establishing and implementing strategies for WITSA increase its relevant and valuable to WITSA members around the world.

Ms. Angela Mondou, the CEO & President of TECHNATION Canada, will Chair WITSA’s Global Policy Action Committee (GPAC), with a particular responsibility to ascertain and promote important issues affecting the global use of ICT as it relates to government policies.

Mr. Sean Seah of PIKOM, Malaysia, was re-elected as Chairman of WITSA’s Finance Committee, which is to oversee financial planning, prepare annual budgets for board approvals, financial management, ensure assets are protected,  and the drafting of fiscal policies.

Dr. Boris Komrakov of InfoPark, Belarus, was re-elected to lead WITSA’s Committee on Education, Training and Human Resources, which is responsible for understanding the problems, issues and roadblocks contributing to the shortage of ICT workers as they relate to education and training; identifying programs, curriculum, best practices, and opportunities as they apply to addressing the problems of the global ICT worker shortages.

Finally, Eng. Tarek Abd-elmonem Taha of the Egyptian Information Telecommunications, Electronics and Software Alliance (EITESAL), was elected Chairman of WITSA’s Nominating Committee, which is tasked with soliciting candidates for WITSA’s Board of Directors and Chairman.
