Work-Study Coexistence (CTÉ)

Introducing the Work-study Coexistence (CTÉ) – designed for students to gain experience in their field of study, which helps them enter the workforce upon graduation from college.

The first year is compulsory for all students and it is essentially observation and one-off mini-internship so that the student validates his or her professional choice and lives the reality of the job market. It is offered within the technical courses.

In the second and third year, students are offered the choice to continue their training course in a CTÉ. Concretely, this implies that certain technical courses are offered directly in-house instead of being face-to-face at Cégep. The student could have 1 to 2 courses of presence in a company which makes between 12 and 15 hours per week in a company.

Moreover, in the CTÉ the student is obliged to participate in the co-op studies during the summer in partner companies so that the skills acquired, during the summer, are recognized and credited are for technical training courses in the program. The goal is to lighten the fall session and make the study more available to its studies in the fall and winter session.

At the end of three years, the student would have CTÉ between 2,670 and 2,940 hours or roughly 1/2 1yr in business during its formation.
