Tickit Health Supports Mental Health and Indigenous Youth Challenge

VANCOUVER, BC, March 1, 2022 – Tickit Health, a global provider of person-reported data collection solutions based on Digital Empathy, is pleased to announce we have partnered with East Side Games to sponsor TECHNATION Canada’s Open Innovation Challenge in support of mental health and Indigenous youth.

The Challenge is focused on encouraging Canadian post-secondary students to develop mental health solutions with technology.  The top teams will benefit from mentor sessions with representatives from each partner.

“As a technology provider of Digitally Empathetic solutions to enhance mental health, Tickit Health is proud to be involved in mentoring Indigenous youth and giving them a positive outlet to make a difference,” said Dr. Sandy Whitehouse, Co-Founder and CMO, TIckit Health.  “We look forward to mentoring and coaching students and seeing the result of their creative ideas.”

Registration runs from February 7 and March 13, 2022 and involves a team of two to four students submitting a three to five minute video and a presentation explaining and demonstrating a prototype and its potential impact.  Judging will take place between March 14 and March 16, 2022. Up to five teams will be selected to participate in the finals. The finalist teams will be notified on the evening of March 16, 2022.

“TECHNATION’s Student Challenge series including the Positive Pathways Challenge are helping to develop talent in under-represented communities,” said Denise Shortt, Senior Vice President of Industry and Diversity & Inclusion, TECHNATION Canada.  “These Challenges are designed to tap into Canada’s brightest young minds and encourage Indigenous youth to co-create solutions to critical issues, like mental health, facing society.  The hope is that these tech-driven solutions will have a positive impact on the lives of participants, their communities and ultimately makes a real difference for our future.”

“As someone experienced in designing and implementing innovative projects, I encourage programs like the Indigenous Student challenge that help shine the light on our communities’ young talent,” said Joseph Duperreault, CFO, Social Awareness Group. “TECHNATION’s initiative helps students ideate and develop interventions that will support Indigenous youth dealing with mental health challenges. It not only makes a difference but will give them a head start in their careers.”

The five teams of finalists will pitch their solutions to the jury at a live virtual event on March 29, 2022. The teams will have the chance to win up to $8,000 cash.
