International Women’s Day 2021: Statement from Angela Mondou, President and CEO

TECHNATION promotes a variety of initiatives to ensure women are more prominently represented in all dimensions of the tech industry. As a champion of diversity, TECHNATION works with industry partners to spearhead initiatives that support “tech savvy and tech positive” learning and career choices for girls and women at strategic points within their development. We do this by showcasing successful female technology leaders regularly and sharing their learning, advice and guidance with our members.

This year’s International Women’s Day is #ChoosetoChallenge, and TECHNATION wants to personally challenge all women in the technology sector to do just that.  We consider 2021 ‘your year’ to step up and make an important commitment to yourself to take one concrete action to attain your personal goals in any area of life – personal or professional.  Our challenge is for women in tech to make 2021 count and give back to themselves.  Empowerment and equality are a direct result of taking action and #ChoosetoChallenge.

We still have a long way to go in the tech industry, with women comprising less than 20 per cent of board and senior management in tech companies.  Failure to achieve greater diversity and inclusion of women in the technology industry at all levels is not an option.
