TECHNATION is pleased to announce the appointment of Gillian Cartwright as Senior Director, Public Policy, effective August 5, 2026.
Gillian brings over 15 years of experience in government relations, public policy and advocacy, with a career spanning Parliament Hill, the federal public service, and Canada’s innovation sector.
Her deep understanding of government decision-making, combined with a strong track record of advancing complex policy initiatives, will further strengthen TECHNATION’s leadership as the voice of Canada’s technology sector.
Most recently, Gillian led Parliamentary Affairs and Cabinet Affairs at Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), where she supported ministerial engagement and provided strategic analysis on key policy files including artificial intelligence, procurement modernization and digital workforce strategies.
Gillian has also held roles at Sustainable Development Technology Canada, and served in senior political roles on Parliament Hill, including with the Honourable Jim Prentice during his tenure as Minister of Industry, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, and Minister of the Environment.
In her new role, Gillian will work closely with TECHNATION members, government stakeholders and industry leaders to advance key policy priorities including artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, procurement modernization, data sovereignty, and digital trade.
