TECHNATIONs Career Ready Program is collaborating with Alterna Savings (Alterna) on a pilot program designed to reduce barriers for Black entrepreneurs and increase Black representation in Canada’s tech industry. This program offers financing options for eligible employers looking to hire diverse talent and build a more inclusive tech workforce.
Alterna’s Community Microfinance Program provides businesses that are often excluded from traditional financing with access to capital and affordable financial products and services, enabling them to hire and onboard new employees as they continue to grow their businesses.
In addition to accessing the loan program, employers hiring a student for a tech-immersive work placement may apply for a wage subsidy reimbursement from TECHNATION’s Career Ready Program. Eligible employers who hire a Black student, or a student who identifies as being part of an under-represented group, will receive an increased wage subsidy of up to $7,000.
Future Talent Financing connects businesses with a pool of skilled diverse students seeking tech roles. By participating, you contribute to building a more inclusive tech industry while gaining access to top talent.
This initiative offers several unique advantages to reduce the cost of hiring for eligible employers:
