Per the mandate letter for the Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Shared Services Canada (SSC), the Government of Canada is committed to modernizing procurement practices, so they are simpler, less administratively burdensome, provide value for money, are open and transparent, and include practices that support its social and economic policy goals.
Efforts have been underway at PSPC, SSC and the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), in collaboration with industry, to drive procurement reform, achieve supplier diversity, and ultimately deliver value from the approximately $6.8 billion spent annually on technology and related services.
TECHNATION will host an Industry Day bringing government and industry together to address procurement challenges and recommend solutions to deliver value from public sector purchasing. Through moderated breakouts, we will identify and commit to ways that Canada’s tech sector and government can collaborate to modernize the current procurement framework with practical measures that achieve value in terms of outcomes for citizens and the public sector.
We will host two parts to Industry Day – public portion will be available to all industry to network, hear from Minister and keynote. The full session tickets (private) will include 40-50% government executives and procurement authorities and 50% TECHNATION industry members to participate in the breakout sessions.
Recognizing the value of procurement advancements to-date, the two tracks of four breakout groups involving both government and industry will focus on modern procurement methods to identify and replicate practical measures that will work to meet everyone’s goals.
