Join Government Information Technology Ontario (GovTechON) and TECHNATION on Thursday June 8, 2023, for their semi-annual, co-hosted, interactive technology event (formerly CCIO).

Mohammad Qureshi, Corporate CIO and Associate Deputy Minister together with John van den Hoven, Interim Chief Technology Officer, Enterprise Technology Strategy Division will provide key updates on their technology roadmap TRIP to industry and host a moderated Q&A with audience participation.  Full networking session with all of the ON government CIO’s in attendance will follow.

This year’s theme — Designing the Future — brings together the technology industry and government to discuss and collaborate on how best to leverage technology and deliver simple, smart, safe and convenient services for Ontarians.

Mohammad Qureshi, Corporate Chief Information Officer and Associate Deputy Minister, Government Information Technology Ontario (GovTechON)

Mohammad Qureshi is the Corporate Chief Information Officer and Associate Deputy Minister for the Government Information Technology Ontario (GovTechON) organization, leading more than 4000 I+IT technologists, powering the Government of Ontario to be a leading digital jurisdiction. With 20+ years in public service, his mission has remained the same: enable the public sector to harness the benefits of transformative technology and deliver better outcomes for people.

Prior to becoming CCIO, he was named Ontario’s first Chief Information Security Officer before becoming Chief Information Officer of the Infrastructure Technology Services division. In May of 2022, Mohammad was recognized as the CIO of the Year within the public sector category, by IT World Canada.

 

John van den Hoven, Interim Chief Technology Officer, Enterprise Technology Strategy Division, GovTechON

As a member of Enterprise Technology Strategy (ETS) senior management team, John created the methodology for the Enterprise Technology Roadmap and Investment Plan (TRIP). Over the past 18 months, John has led the team in the development and implementation of the Enterprise Technology Roadmap for the Ontario Government. John has also been instrumental in developing the End-to-End User Journeys and enabling systems architectures for the Vaccine Booking, Enhanced Vaccine Receipt, and Verify Ontario Application systems, as well as leading the Technology Readiness Assessments for these systems.

John van den Hoven has more than 25 years of progressive leadership, management and consulting experience spanning all strategic areas of information technology in both the public and private sector, including 14 years in the OPS. John has been a Director in the OPS for the past 12 years within the Central Agencies Cluster, and most recently as the Director, TRIP.
