Advancing Global Cooperation for AI: Highlights from the AI Action Summit in Paris

As part of its 2025 TECH7 Presidency, TECHNATION wrapped up its participation in the AI Action Summit in Paris from February 7-11, represented by TECHNATION President and CEO, Angela Mondou.

The TECH7 unites national technology associations from the G7 countries to amplify key global tech opportunities and drive action on digital governance and sustainable innovation.

On Friday, February 7, TECHNATION participated in the TECH7 AI Action Summit, alongside TECH7 partner organizations AFNUM (France), Anitec-Assinform (Italy), Bitkom (Germany), Digital Europe (EU), JEITA (Japan), ITI (USA), Numeum (France) and techUK (UK). TECHNATION is the official TECH7 representative for Canada.  In her closed-door morning remarks with global government leaders, Mondou emphasized the role of the TECH7 in advancing global coordination and collaboration to drive action on responsible AI development and governance, sustainable innovation and emerging technologies.

She also highlighted the 2025 TECH7 Summit to be hosted by TECHNATION in the fall, aligned with Canada’s G7 Presidency, and its overarching theme, “Building Trust and Accelerating AI Adoption.”

As part of the AI Action Summit, the TECH7 released a joint statement with recommendations to guide policymakers in fostering innovation, protecting fundamental rights, building trust, and ensuring AI contributes to long-term societal goals including related to climate change.

AI Roundtable with Canadian Embassy in Paris

On Sunday, February 9, Mondou represented TECHNATION at a Chatham House Rule high-level meeting on AI at the residence of the Canadian Ambassador in Paris. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the roundtable, highlighting AI has a key priority of the G7 this year, with Canada assuming the 2025 G7 Presidency.

The exclusive roundtable discussion addressed infrastructure and energy in AI, with over 20 participants from Canada and France. Mondou moderated the Energy in AI discussion, probing input around the future of energy security and resilience, government-industry collaboration to support policy frameworks and actions, and AI-powered clean energy strategies and optimization.

Exploring National AI Roadmaps: A Roundtable on International Cooperation

On Tuesday, February 11, Mondou moderated an expert panel discussion on the geopolitical, economic, and ethical issues surrounding AI. Panelists Sarah Baumchen, Managing Director of ZVEI; Sylvie Ouelette, CEO of Versatil; and Julian David, CEO of techUK discussed the necessity of international collaboration to establish ethical standards and global regulations in the field of artificial intelligence, and the actions needed to strengthen European technological independence while fostering global dialogue.

2025 TECH7

Each year, the TECH7 is hosted in line with the G7 Presidency. The 2025 Summit will be held in the fall and will prioritize TECH7’s objectives while aligning with and complementing Canada’s G7’s goals of promoting inclusive economic growth, combating climate change and managing rapidly evolving technologies.

TECHNATION and the TECH7 partners will prepare our annual Joint Declaration submission for the G7 Digital Ministerial meeting, which will call for global collaboration on emerging digital issues, reinforcing TECH7’s mandate to foster innovation, productivity, prosperity and inclusion.

The Joint Declaration lays out the most prescient recommendations on digital innovation and emerging technologies, including GenAI, 6G, quantum and cybersecurity covering global technology adoption, policy recommendations, public/private sector collaboration and coordination, inclusion and much more.
