October 22 | Ottawa
Government procurement accounts for trillions of dollars in annual spend globally, roughly 12% of gross GDP and 29% of government expenditures within OECD countries. In Canada, government procurement ranges from 13-15% of GDP, and is a significant driver of socio-economic policy. The Government of Canada’s spend on overall goods, services, and construction topped $66.9 billion in 2024-2025, with IT/scientific and technological spending comprising $15 billion CAD.
Harnessing procurement as an economic and productivity driver is a significant priority for both government and business in Canada. Against the backdrop of delivering better outcomes for Canadians, implementation of Buy Canadian policies, and regulatory change and harmonization, TECHNATION will bring industry and government leaders together to discuss how procurement can deliver greater outcomes within the context of a changing policy landscape.
Industry Day will explore how modernizing procurement practices can make procurement simpler, less administratively burdensome, and drive greater value for money, while still supporting values of fairness and transparency. Through a series of moderated panels and breakout discussions, we will identify and commit to ways that Canada’s tech sector and government can collaborate to modernize the current procurement framework with practical measures that achieve value in terms of outcomes for citizens and the public sector.
This event is open to TECHNATION members by-invitation-only. Contact Christine Leonard at cleonard@technationcanada.ca for details.
