Canada’s Supply Chain Digitalization & The Critical Role of Data

Global supply chains continue to be under pressure by the COVID-19 pandemic, growing impacts of climate change, and fallout from the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Ensuring that supply chains are resilient, and fluid is a top priority for the Canadian Government.

A well-functioning global transportation system is critical to securing supply chains, enabling global trade, and forms the backbone of nearly all sectors of the economy. Thus, it is critically important that any measures taken to address supply chains consider the important role transportation plays and are developed in consultation with industry.

On May 29, TECHNATION will host a fireside chat with Arun Thangaraj, Deputy Minister, Transport Canada focused on the National Supply Chain Task Force, launched by the Minister of Transport, whose recommendations will inform the development of a National Supply Chain Strategy, per Budget 2022.

During our intimate chat, we will examine more closely one of the task force’s key recommendations to ‘digitalize and create end-to-end supply chain visibility for efficiency, accountability, planning, investment and security.’ We will also touch on Transport Canada’s ‘Digital by Design’ approach and where the department is headed with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) to support advanced analytics, decision-making and departmental process.
